FAI
First Article Inspection
A full measurement of the first piece after a production start or a change, before the run begins.
FAI confirms that after a start, a changeover or a mould change the process produces a part that matches the drawing. In aerospace it is described by AS9102, in other industries by customer requirements.
What it looks like in the system
In Smart Control FAI is a separate procedure in the control plan. In blocking mode the operator cannot start production without its approval.
